Art Portfolio Project: SMART Objective

I will be creating six digital drawings and sketches taking into account aspects of sustainability and eco-friendly. The initial idea of these concepts comes from "Earthly Delights". The modern house concept of the collection will be contemporary,  and I will be learning methods, techniques and doing research on alternative cooling/heating systems. Moreover, the project aims for sustainability and energy-efficient construction methods. The projects are created by software (AutoCAD, 3Ds MAX and Adobe Photoshop). This project will take eight weeks to complete.

This house project is located outside the city and is designed for a small family to spend their vacation seasons. The place of the project will be in a forest. I researched lots of places for this project then I chose the Forest of Dean. Moreover, the forest is also a stronghold for nature with large areas of woodland and open space providing a mosaic of habitats for a wide variety of wildlife. It is a peaceful place away from the hustle and bustle of the big city and a charming place to de-stress.

Access

The house is 3.6 miles from Coleford and 3.1 miles from Cinderford. There are also several small and large villages nearby. When it comes to getting home and transportation, a car can be a convenient solution. It can be reached by car in 9 minutes. It can also be reached by bus from Cinderford in 30 minutes.

Briefly about the forest:

Forest of Dean is a district in Gloucestershire, south-central England, in the western part of the county. In 1938, the forest was designated as the first National Forest Park, and today the Forest of Dean is a popular tourist destination. Most of the district belongs to the historic county of Gloucestershire, but the villages of Staunton and Redmarley D'Abitot and surrounding areas belong to the historic county of Worcestershire. Coleford, in the west, is the administrative centre. The Newent area is famous for its wild daffodil fields.

The oak, beech and ash trees of Gloucestershire's west Forest of Dean have inspired many writers, including Tolkien and JK Rowling, whose family still lives in the area. Parts of the forest were also used in the filming of Harry Potter. In addition, some scenes of famous films were shot in this forest.

  2. Edit this based on the discussion we had in the session on Tuesday. Who are you designing for? Is this a family home, for a professional couple? Consider also the demographics and location of this design - this is important as it will impact your design idea.

You must also publish your initial research before I see you in Week 3, focusing on a designer that is working in a similar area or inspired you to do this project in the first place.

  3. This post doesn't say why you chose the Forest of Dean. Have you considered access, the affordability of transporting materials to this are?

I'm also sure that you have copy and pasted much of this post - you know not to do this, you should be writing in your own words. Remove the copy and pasted text, please.
