Frank Lloyd Wright Research

Frank Lloyd Wright was born on June 8, 1867, in Richland Center. He is an architect and designer, also Wright is a big fan of elegantly styled automobiles. He owned some of the world's best-known automobiles including Mercedes-Benz, Cadillac, Bentley, Jaguar, Packard and Cord.

I aimed to create a modern holiday house taking into account aspects of sustainability and eco-friendly for a family. The initial idea of these concepts comes from "Earthly Delights". Moreover, I researched “The Fallingwater”  built by architect Frank Lloyd Wright in 1935. The project is located over a waterfall at Bear Run in the Laurel Mountains of southwestern Pennsylvania, USA. "Fallingwater" was built for Egar and Liliane Kaufmann. This project is based on Wright's love of nature and they offered him to build a summer home for the family's weekend retreat in Bear Run, Pennsylvania. Wright used a series of reinforced concrete "trays" for the natural rock. Also, the architect wanted to cover the house with large windows to open the rooms to the magnificent nature.

In 1963 the house owner Kaufmanns donated the Fallingwater to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy with 1,543 acres of surrounding land and in 1964 the property was revealed as a museum. According to data, the house suffered from 60 chronic leaks. After five years of research, reports, material analysis and prototype repairs, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy recognized that a more holistic approach to the complex was needed. Interestingly, the buildings have never been fully restored for nearly 70 years.

The House is located on Carmel Point in California, USA. The piece of property on which the house is built was deeded to Mrs Clinton Della Walker. Walker told Architect Frank Lloyd Wright that she wanted a house “as durable as the rocks and as transparent as the waves.” Apparently inspired by the request, Wright designed the “cabin on the rocks” (also known as Mrs Clinton Walker House) for her.
It's a perfect example of Wright's principles of organic architecture, clad with local Carmel stone, a roof the colour of the sea and the sky and a shape that some say resembles a ship.
